It is known that until some years ago the excess of light and electric power consumed during the night was too much. Since some years many voices at national and international level notice us of the necessity of protecting our resources and respecting our environment. In this way we must develop materials that minimize the final impact in the residuals management.
The excess of light during the night increases the sky natural bottom shine making more difficult the astronomical observations. Likewise the night animals are affected by this unexpected appearance of light which can make them more fragile versus their predators and turn affected the biodiversity of the area.

At the present time it is in process the regulation of the new law called "of ordination of the illumination for the protection of the night medium", approved by the Generalitat of Catalonia. In Canaries Islands there is the call "Law of the Sky", elaborated to preserve the area of the Teide and the island of the Palma, headquarters of the Canaries Astrophysicist Institute.
If we keep in mind the recommendations of the CEI (Spanish Committee of Illumination) and their approaches for the reduction of luminous flow we will see that with sense common and little cost we will already take out bigger yield from the installed fittings.
Nowadays there are some models of fittings that can be converted or upgraded, sometimes with a simple approach change when choosing the type of lamps, to fulfil the requirement of not emitting light toward the sky in excess.
